Here's
a step-by-step repair & rebuild we did
recently - click on any image for close-ups. This
2001 Ford Escape had a "close encounter
of the furred kind" - a collision with a
deer. It's a fairly common occurrence in
Nova Scotia, particularly at night. In
fact, you can still see traces of deer hair on
the driver's side of the vehicle. |

|
 |
 |
| Here's
how it looked before we dissembled it for an
accurate estimate. |
Here's
the hair on the fender where the deer scraped
all down the driver's side. |
 |
 |
| With
the bumper off, we can see the damage to the
front end and grill. |
On
the driver's side, the fender has been badly
crushed and scratched. |
 |
 |
| With
the fender now removed, you can see the
headlight frames has been mangled. |
Here
the damaged grill has been taken off,
revealing the engine block beneath. |
 |
 |
| R/T
orders any necessary parts for you; here we're
unpacking a bumper cover. |
The
old fender has been removed so we can repair
damage such as the headlight. |
 |
 |
| The
new hood has been installed and is being
hand-sanded prior to priming. |
Here
we've stripped down the driver's side door to
prepare for the new paint. |
 |
 |
| The
hood has been primed, and now awaits painting
to match original colour. |
Prepping
for painting, we've carefully covered all
windshield & window glass. |
 |
 |
| Here
one of our certified refinishing technicians
is matching paint. |
And
here we've even covered the engine block to
protect it against paint. |
 |
 |
| The
new fender has been primed and painted, then
hung in front of heat lamps. |
The
heat lamps are so intense, they lend a
"rosy glow" to this fender. |
 |
 |
| The
now dry fender is installed and is ready to be
painted grey to match original coat. |
After
final painting is completed, the car is
restored to a "like new" condition! |
